Serve these Jalapeno Popper Turkey Burgers to people who think they don’t like turkey, and watch them fall in love! The combo of cream cheese, bacon, and jalapenos make an incredibly flavorful burger that is low in points.
This was one of the first recipes I posted to this blog, so it was in need of a revamp.
When I first started, I didn’t add much description to the recipes. And my pictures were awful! I’m not saying I’m the best food photographer now, but I like to think I’ve at least stepped up my game a bit.
Since first posting, these Jalapeno Popper Turkey Burgers have become one of my most popular recipes!
You can’t go wrong with the hybrid of a super juicy turkey burger and one of the best appetizers around–jalapeno poppers.
Adjust the spice level for your tastes
I like that you can make this mild or super hot, depending on how many jalapeno seeds you decide to add to the final product.
We love spice around here, so I typically add all of the seeds. It has a great kick without being overly spicy (to me, anyway). If you’re sensitive to spice, think about cutting back on the jalapeno.
Another option to to omit the jalapenos all together and use a much milder pepper, like poblano or even bell pepper. You’ll still get that great pepper flavor and texture without the spice.
How to serve jalapeno popper Turkey Burgers
As you can see, this makes a HUGE patty. I’ve eaten these as a lettuce wrap because they are so filling, but it’s also nice to splurge on a fluffy brioche bun (as pictured) since the burgers are so low in points.
I’ve also seen a lot of people use a low-carb wrap, like Cut Da Carb, to keep the points lower.
If you’re thinking of making these for a crowd, try turning them into sliders instead! I did this for a party, and it was a huge hit. I made the recipe into eight servings, which cut the points for each burger in half (2 SP for Green; 1 SP for Blue or Purple).
I’d love to hear from you if you make this recipe! Leaving a starred review and comment below helps my blog grow. I’m always grateful when you can take the time to do that!
It also makes my day when you share your pics on Instagram and tag me (@litecravings). Don’t forget to use #litecravingsrecipes to make sure I see it. If I don’t get a chance to scroll through my tags quickly enough, I won’t see your post. I always make a point to look through the hashtags, though, so I’ll see it there!
Jalapeno Popper Turkey Burgers
Ingredients
- 1.25 lbs ground 99% lean turkey
- 2 jalapenos, diced, about 2/3 cup (take out seeds if you don’t like a lot of spice)
- 1 small onion, minced
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 3/4 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 ounces light cream cheese
- 4 strips cooked, center cut bacon, chopped
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine turkey, 1/2 of the minced jalapenos, onion, and spices. Form into 8 very thin patties.
- In a small bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining jalapenos, and bacon. Distribute evenly between 4 of your patties, placing the mixture in the middle. It comes out to about a heaping tablespoon of filling each.
- Place one plain patty on top of one patty with filling. Press the two together to make one big patty, making sure you seal all edges so the filling doesn’t melt out as you cook them. Repeat with remaining 3 patties.
- Cook in a large skillet over medium high heat until turkey is cooked through, about 6-8 minutes a side.
- Enjoy with whatever topping you like. I love avocado on top of these to cool them down a bit.

I made these last night and they were great! I topped with avocado and tomato and it was delish. Next time I’ll wrap in lettuce instead of a bun; I think that cool crispness will be excellent. My husband who hates all things that are supposed to be “healthy” loved them, too 🙂

Made these tonight, it was my first time ever having a turkey burger. I was so excited with how good they were! My 13 year old had two! My husband grilled them, he just put aluminum foil on the grill first since. So filling! I had a bun and some special sauce to make it 8 points. Will definitely be in the rotation!

Well I thought I had bought ground turkey but instead bought sausage!! How could I have done that!! And thank you for the brown rice link, and yup that was the one!! Anyway I did make this tonight but instead of turkey I used ground beef! It was all I had and I wanted to make this so bad. But guess what – it was fantastic!! I know it would have been healthier with the turkey but this was, as my husband said — give it two yums!!! Thanks again

Hands down my FAVORITE turkey burger recipe ever! It’s my fiancé’s favorite weight watcher recipe 🙂 The burgers are so juicy and the jalapeño is not too spicy. I adore this recipe.

First Lite Cravings recipe I tried and it was delicious! Super flavorful and quick for even a weeknight.
I threw the onions in the chopper which made it even quicker instead of chopping.
